SOUTHERN SWITZERLAND

GENEVA

Geneva lies on the southern tip of Lake Geneva and is surrounded by beauty – in the form of the Alps and the Jura mountains. The city is easily one of Europe’s finest, and provides fantastic views of the dramatic Mont Blanc.

The most famous monument is the Jet d’Eau – the world’s tallest water fountain which is a common feature when you’re exploring the city.

Stop by the Old Town and get a glimpse of the past, which you can also do by visiting one of the city’s many museums and art galleries. Take a walk around the lake, go for a swim or enjoy a boat cruise; visit the popular Plainpalais Flea Marketheld on Wednesdays and Sundays and the city’s largest outdoor flea market; or take a cable car to Mont Saleve, a playground for sports lovers.

Geneva is also the perfect base if you’re looking for adventure, or stopping off before heading into the mountains or to explore the beautiful countryside.

LUGANO

Lugano is on the border of Italy and located in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino, a popular holiday region. The town is filled with parks, flowers, sacred buildings and villas and provides a style that is unique and welcoming.

The historic town centre remains free from traffic, while the surrounding mountains and Lake Lugana provide an abundance of activity. Explore the Mediterranean-style squares and arcades, the parks and gardens, and the lake itself, or dine at one of the high quality restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy a range of local flavours.

Take a walk to the closest mountains, Monte San Salvatore and Monte Brè, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the town, the lake and the alps.
